Why my Gran should use Online Dating
The idea that young people are the only people that can use DVD players and PCs is complete twoddle. My Gran‘s a silver surfer and could outplay an eight-year-old at most games, yet for some reason she refuses to use dating sites. The first hurdle is to get her dating again after the death of her hubby, but it’s been a while now so I think it’s about time she started getting out and about.
Her argument is that dating sites are dangerous: "You don’t know who you’re meeting". My argument is that they’re safer than standard old-fashioned dating agencies because they give you chance to email the other person as much as you want before meeting them and view photos of them rather than be sent on an almost-blind date by an agent that thinks you’re a good match! Online you can choose from thousands of people on thousands of sites, but I did suggest that she uses my free online dating site!
The trouble is, we need to find a site which stores the appropriate attributes. Instead of "smoker" or "wants children" we need "has own teeth" and "can still walk properly"! Joking aside, most sites are geared towards younger people and, whilst there is an element of the older generation, there don’t seem to be enough old men to choose from. Perhaps as the first generation to use PCs gets older the number of older people on dating sites will increase?!
